On May 1, 2004, more than 19 Acton Stream Teams volunteers cleaned trash
out of local water areas, as part of their contribution to the Annual Acton
Cleanup Day sponsored each spring by the Acton Conservation Trust.

Acton Stream Teams volunteers cleaned trash out of the following water
areas:
- Ice House Pond, (a dammed portion of Nashoba Brook)
- Nashoba Brook at Wetherbee Street
- A vernal pool area near Rte 2
- Fort Pond Brook (near Coles Brook), at the intersection of School St. and
Lawsbrook Rd.
- Fort Pond Brook, along Parker Street and River Street.
- Fort Pond Brook from the Douglas and Gates Schools, downstream to Arlington
Street.
Wildlife habitat? Three mice scurried out of this back seat of a car that
was found discarded in the underbrush along Nashoba Brook.

Trash included paper, plastic, glass, wooden, and metal debris, tires,
a decayed garden hose, a propane or refrigerant container, a plastic wading
pool, and a back seat from a car. Volunteers enjoyed the great weather,
and braved poison ivy and the persistent prickers of multiflora rose, and
collectively filled about 30 bags of trash, and 9 bags of recycling.

Thank you to everyone who helped on May 1st, and also to everyone who helps
pick up litter along our streets and waterways at other times of year.
