| Post-Survey Actions On May 7, 1998 the volunteers came to a "Priority Setting" meeting at Acton Town Hall to report their findings. Volunteers noted that generally the streams in Acton appear to be in very good shape and are wonderful resources. There were, however, some specific problems or needs that should be addressed. Volunteers created Priority Sheets by listing the assets and problems found in each stream section. These were then reviewed by the volunteers to determine which of these were priorities. On May 21, 1998 the Fort Pond Brook and Nashoba Brook Stream Teams each designed an Action Plan to address some of the needs identified by the survey. These plans included sharing information with relevant Town Boards and officials and the identification of short and long term projects in the following categories:
On June 24, 1998 Stream Team volunteers created four ongoing task forces
(Cleanup, Stewardship, Website, and Rail Trail Development/Linkage) to
begin working on specific projects. Their plans included a cleanup on September 12, 1998 for selected stream areas that showed the most need;
the development of stewardship materials; an Acton Stream Teams website,
and investigation of new trail development. |
